Evening times will be adjusted according to the season and schedule. You can limit the length of your trip if you so desire but 7 hours gives you a fair chance to catch a limit of fish. Book your trip now!
While out on the waters of your Lake Erie charter, we will be fishing on board my fully rigged state-of-the-art Ranger 200C fisherman center console with a 200hp Yamaha outboard motor and an 8hp Yamaha motor for trolling and emergency use. My boat is fully equipped with the latest GPS, chartplotter and depthfinder as well as a VHF marine radio that is monitored for emergency transmissions from early morning until days end. Also included on-board is all U.S.C.G. required safety equipment. With the mobility of a trailerable boat it allows us to target the hottest walleye fishing when and where it's happening.
All of the tackle for a day of walleye or perch fishing will be provided for you, this includes graphite rods with spinning reels, lures, enough bait for the days fishing plus all required safety equipment. Your tackle is all hand picked and customized to give you ultimate sensitivity for the lightest bite and the durability for the hardest hook set.
You're welcome to bring a rod (medium action w/8lb test line min.) of your choice however it is recommended that you use the equipment provided. There is no reason for you to bring your tackle box. Included is bottled water, a cooler with ice for your lunch and beverages as well as a separate cooler with ice for the days catch. You're welcome to any left over ice at the end of the day but you'll need to bring a cooler and zip-lock bags to transport your catch home, this is very important since you don't want your catch to spoil.
My goal for your day of walleye or perch fishing is to put you on active fish. If you're a novice angler or just new to fishing on Lake Erie I'll be happy to teach you the techniques necessary to catch your limit of fish to take home. Unlike other charters I won't compete against you to catch your fish for you just so I can take you back to the dock early. I will however assist you in any way necessary to ensure that your fishing experience is as enjoyable as possible. This is YOUR day on the water, my job is to take you to the fish.
If you're like myself and prefer casting for walleye as opposed to trolling, I would like to suggest that you book your trip prior to the mayfly hatch and hot weather which takes place in late June to early July. Weather dictates to seasonal changes and they are hard to predict. Whatever your plans are, it is also suggested that you book your preferred date as early as possible and if necessary we can usually change the date later.
Flexibility is the key to any safe and successful fishing trip on Lake Erie. We may have to reschedule your trip due to weather and most hotels are very accommodating depending on availability. Be sure to check their cancellation policy and details when making your reservations. For this reason it is suggested that you purchase your fishing license the day before or the morning of your charter, they're available at many locations throughout the area and also on the internet. According to Ohio's requirements all 1 day fishing licenses must be signed and dated the day of your charter, we'll sign them at the dock.
Bathroom facilities are available at the dock but limited on the water however as a professional Captain I will make every effort to accommodate the comfort and privacy of female clients.
Alcoholic beverages will be permitted on-board by the client, however drunkenness will not be tolerated and will terminate your charter. Refusal to wear a life jacket upon request will also terminate your charter with no refund. Your safety is of the utmost importance.
Decisions by the Captain involving any on-board safety matters including weather, use of safety equipment or movement from an area for safety reasons are non-debatable. Refusal to wear a life jacket at the captains request will also terminate your charter with no refund.
Lake Erie fishing can be cold and rainy or hot an muggy, therefore dress appropriately for the season, casual and comfortable. A rainsuit is always a necessity as well as sunscreen and sunglasses. Soft soled, non-marking shoes or boots are appreciated.
If you are one of the unfortunate ones who are prone to motion sickness, don't forget the appropriate preventatives. You can request a guide to the prevention of motion sickness in advance of your trip by email. Please request this information.
