There are many fine hotels located within an easy drive in picturesque Port Clinton or Oregon with excellent dining available. A list will accompany your receipt for deposit. When making hotel reservations I strongly recommend that you call the hotel of your choice using their direct number and not the toll free national number. This way it makes adjusting your stay much easier if it would become necessary due to weather conditions or your schedule.
Put-In-Bay, Kelley's Island, Cedar Point and Kalahari water park are just a few of the attractions located nearby for family entertainment. Bring the whole family and enjoy vacationing in the area. Most hotels in Port Clinton offer free shuttle service to the Jet Express servicing Put-In-Bay but be sure to inquire when making your reservation if this is of interest to your spouse or children .
Flexibility is the key to any safe and successful fishing trip on Lake Erie. There is always a chance that we may have to reschedule your trip due to poor weather conditions and most hotels are very accommodating depending on availability. Be sure to check their cancellation policy and details when making your reservations. For this reason it is suggested that you purchase your fishing license the day before or the morning of your charter. Fishing licenses are mandatory for anyone age 16 and up and are available at Happy Hooker bait and tackle at Route 2 and Humphrey Hwy., the Marathon gas station at Route 2 and Russell Rd. or any number of locations in Port Clinton, just inquire at your hotel. According to Ohio's requirements all 1 day fishing licenses must be signed and dated the day of your charter. If you purchase a 1 day fishing license plan on signing and dating it at the dock. This way if weather doesn't allow us to get out the day of your charter you'll be able to use it another day. The application process has changed for 2011, so be sure to get your license early to avoid any delay on the day of your trip. Fishing license fees as set by the state of Ohio
- Resident Annual: $19.00
- One day Resident or non-resident: $11.00
- Non-Resident Annual: $40.00
- 3 day Non-Resident tourist: $19.00
Fish cleaning can be arranged at Shatto's fish cleaning located right behind Wild Wings Restaurant and the Marathon gas station and off of Russell Rd. or if you're staying in the Port Clinton area at Port Clinton Fisheries Inc. at 2 Madison St. off of Perry St. near downtown and they also offer free freezing and free ice for your trip home. While staying in Oregon then Butch & Denny's Bait & Sporting Goods at 10408 Corduroy Rd will be happy to clean your fish for you. If you prefer to do it yourself, there's a station adjacent to Shato's fish cleaning.
The daily Walleye limits for this year are:
- March 1 to April 30, limit of 4 fish
- May 1 to Feb. 28, limit of 6 fish
- The daily perch limit is 30 throughout the year
Your fish may qualify for a Fish Ohio award if your:
- Walleye measures 28"
- Perch measures 13"
